How to use the Connect application
The Connect application shows you which articles, both internal (content residing on your site) and external (related content existing on other sites), are good to link within an article on your chosen topic. Both styles of linking offer additional value to users as well as boost your ranking in search engines.
To use this application, type the topic for which you’d like to find linking recommendations. For more specific results, add the URL of your domain to the query.
The application will return two types of results:
- Internal links: these are linking opportunities within your domain that are relevant to a particular topic or the content on a given page.
- External links: these are opportunities to link to content off of your domain that add value to the content by providing further depth and information to your article. This also helps interlink your content to the broader internet community.
To surface Network and Competitor links, add these domains by going to the settings gear in the upper right corner and select custom filters. Once you have added your links, click the settings gear again to remove the pop-over.
- Network links: Network links provide links to other websites in your stable of domains. If you manage more than one site, this feature helps connect your sites, providing a competitive edge.
- Competitor links: Competitor links are the top links for a given topic that compete directly with the content you are publishing.
